I'm a multi-medium artist from SE Alaska - an idyllic coast town called Fort Seward, Haines, Alaska. I grew up with the inspiration of both the granduer of the Northwest Coast and also the art and legends of the Natives there. I learned Native Art and carving as a youth and have done a lot of Native Art over the years, but now am involved in depicting a fantasy realm called Northwest Supernatural. Most of my images are spirit oriented, as I see spirits in everything as did the Natives of old. Most tell as story, or spirit story about the talismanic significance of the piece. I have my own galleries in my home town and have set up galleries in other places in the states. I feature mostly: woodcarvings, paintings, silk screen prints, metal wall sculptures and artistic puppets. I also have several lines of jewelry that are available at my website: northwestsupernatural.com. To find out more about me, visit my website: tresham.com
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration
My inspiration comes from the beautiful rugged landscape of the Northwest Coast and from the Native art and people who lived here. Especially from their legends of the supernatural, where heroes dealt with supernatural beings to move the course of cosmic force and direction.
Here, the wildlife combined with the rugged majestic mountain landscape is an inspiration for any young artist. Eagles and Ravens are the main birds here and were also the main two clans of the Native people, and figured intensely into their cultural perspectives. The Eagle represented the yang or power energies, while the Raven stood for the Yin element, and these two spirit forces interact throughout their art and cultural thought.
I was fortunate enough to be involved in creating a Native Arts revival in my town and learned a number of artistic skills as well as performing masked dance theater depicting ancient legends. Now I have created a realm called Northwest Supernatural where everything is part of a shamanic experience and vision. In it are a host of cosmic characters that deal with spirit forces.
Techniques
The mainstay of my art comes from drawing. In order to visualize, design, and create works in any medium, you have to draw it out in some form. My drawing technique is somewhat unique, as I am going for a representation of spirit beings. So my drawing technique involves a lot of dance and flow. My paintings are experiments in various painting techniques including: Mystic Flow, stippling, rendering, sculpting, and collage.
Woodcarving has been my main medium for many years, having learned to carve as a young teenager. Now I do mostly impressionist animystic animals and birds sometimes with transformational faces included. They are all out of fine hardwoods, and highly finished to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. I make both wall and standing sculptures.
Metal wall sculptures using artistically ground surfaces to reflect light in exciting ways are my newest artistic experiment. I use stainless steel and aluminum that I hand cut with a plasma cutter and sometimes bend by hand into shapes, sometimes featuring a semi-precious stone set into the piece.
I also do hand silk screen prints in my Alaska studio that I have hand cut the original film and hand pull them to give them a Mystical Blend look where each print is different in the color blends.
